2025 Asia Triathlon Sprint Championships (5-6 April 2025)
Selection Policy
(6 men and 6 women slots) (tentative number)
Objectives:
The primary objective of this policy is to set out the criteria for selection, to ensure fairness, consistency, and transparency in the selection process for TriHK to select capable and eligible athletes to represent Hong Kong, China with the target to challenge for the best result in the individual event at the captioned Championship.
Details & Criteria:
- Athletes must be born on or before 31 December 2008 (Aged 17 or above) to qualify and are current TriHK National Squad Members.
- Athlete must have sufficient results to be put on the start list for all events
- The aim of team selection is to win medals at the Asian Championships
- Asian Sprint Champs will be used as the first National Games selection race
- Athletes with any current (2025) disciplinary issues are not eligible for selection
- Race Selection Slots:
- The first 3 Men (8% of winner’s time to gain world ranking point) & 3 Women (8% of winner’s time to gain world ranking point) of Hong Kong athletes cross the finish line in the Asia Triathlon Cup - Putrajaya on 22nd February 2025
- The first Junior Women of Hong Kong athletes cross the finish line in the Asia Triathlon Cup - Putrajaya on 22nd February 2025
- The first Junior Men of Hong Kong athletes cross the finish line in the 2025 113 Series Sprint Triathlon Race - Putrajaya on 23rd February 2025
7. Two discretionary slots for athletes who have achieved HKSFOC individual major games criteria.
8. Final event slot will be subject to World Triathlon criteria.
Reserve Slot:
- 1 male and 1 female slot
- Any eligible athlete not selected via the above selection methods
- The athlete with the best combination of TriHK recognized 2024 race results
TriHK reserves the right to adjust the above criteria when and where necessary and has the final discretion.
Remarks:
- Final racing slot subjects to World Triathlon’s allocation, and such information is awaiting to be announced.
2025 Asia Triathlon U23 Championships (30 October -1 November 2025)
Selection Policy
(6 men and 6 women slots) (tentative number)
Objectives:
The primary objective of this policy is to set out the criteria for selection, to ensure fairness, consistency, and transparency in the selection process for TriHK to select capable and eligible athletes to represent Hong Kong, China with the target to challenge for the best result in the individual event at the captioned Championship.
Details & Criteria:
- Athletes must be born between (1 January 2002 - 31 December 2007) (Aged 18-23) to qualify and are current TriHK National Squad Members.
- Athlete must have sufficient results to be put on the start list for all events
- The aim of team selection is to win medals at the Asian Championships
- Athletes with any current (2025) disciplinary issues are not eligible for selection
- Race Selection Slots:
- The first U23 athlete of Hong Kong athletes cross the finish line in the 2025 Asia Triathlon Cup – Putrajaya.
- The remaining slot of number 2-5 will be selected from 2025 Asia Triathlon Cup – Taizhou and 2025 Asia Triathlon Cup – Yilan.
6. One discretionary slot reserved by Selection Committee for athletes who have achieved and fulfilled athletes’ obligation.
7. Final event slot will be subject to World Triathlon criteria.

- Athletes must be born between (1 January 2006 - 31 December 2009) (Aged 16-19) to qualify and are current TriHK National Squad Members.
- Athlete must have sufficient results to be put on the start list for all events
- The aim of team selection is to win medals at the Asian Championships
- Asian Sprint Champs will be used as the first National Games selection race
- Athletes with any current (2025) disciplinary issues are not eligible for selection
- Race Selection Slots:
- The first Junior Athlete of Hong Kong athletes cross the finish line in the 2025 113 Series Sprint Triathlon Race - Putrajaya on 23rd February 2025
- The remaining slot of number 2-5 will be selected from Taizhou U-series and Yilan Asian Cup

2024 Asia U23 Triathlon Championships Jubail
Selection Policy

Selection Criteria:
1. Age between 18-23 in the competition year
2. Is a current Trihk National Squad member
3. Selection races: Wuhan Asia Cup & HK Asia Cup
4. Number of slots: 5 (final slots depend on World Triathlon decision)
5. The top 5 Athletes will be selected based on the race results from the captioned competitions
6. Discretionary slots: athletes who have exceptional performance and commitment in 2024 will be considered
TriHK reserves the right, when and where necessary, to adjust the above criteria and has the final discretion.

2024 Asian Junior Championships Khobar
Selection Policy
Objectives:
The primary objective of this policy is to set out the criteria for selection, to ensure fairness, consistency, and transparency in the selection process for TriHK to select capable and eligible athletes to represent Hong Kong, China with the target to challenge for the best result in the individual event at the captioned Championship.
Eligibility:
Nomination athletes must fulfil the below criteria:
- Is a current National Squad member.
- Is born between 1st January 2005 to 31st December 2008.
- Final event slot will be subject to World Triathlon criteria.
Nomination and Selection:
- Up to 12-person team will be selected:
- The team will comprise of up to 6 Male and 6 Female athletes
- Athletes can be selected via the following:
1. Selection Method 1 (4 Slots):
I. Asia Triathlon Junior Cup Kampar (13th July 2024)
II. Male and 2 Female slots available
III. The first two eligible Hong Kong athletes in Men & Women respectively.
*If the criteria are not reached the slot will become discretionary based on TriHK
2. Selection Method 2 (4 Slots):
I. HK Summer Triathlon Challenge (4th August 2024)
II. 2 Male and 2 Female slots available
III. The first two eligible Hong Kong athletes in Men & Women respectively.
*If the criteria are not reached the slot will become discretionary based on TriHK
3. Selection Method 3 (4 Slots):
I. Asia Triathlon Cup Wuhan (14th September 2024)
II. 2 Male and 2 Female slots available
III. The first two eligible Hong Kong athletes in Men & Women respectively.
*If the criteria are not reached the slot will become discretionary based on TriHK
Reserve Slot:
- 1 male and 1 female slot
- Any eligible athlete not selected via the above selection methods
- The athlete with the best combination of TriHKrecognized 2023-24 race result
All NSP are welcome to attend the selection races with self funded basis. TriHK reserves the right, when and where necessary, to adjust the above policies and has the final discretion.

Selection Policy

The primary objective of this policy is to set out the criteria for selection, to ensure fairness, consistency, and transparency in the selection process for TriHK to select capable and eligible athletes to represent Hong Kong, China with the target to challenge for the best result in the individual event at the captioned Championship.
Eligibility:

- Is a current National Squad member

3. Selection Method 3 (2 Slots):
a) 2024 World Triathlon Cup Hong Kong, Elite Open & Junior 2 who born in 2002-2006 (PM Event)
b) 1 Male and 1 Female slot available
c) The first eligible Hong Kong athletes in Men & Women respectively.
*If the criteria are not reached the slot will become discretionary based on TriHK
4. Automatic Selection (4 Slots):
a) Top 8 in 2023 Asian Games Triathlon Individual Event
b) Top 3 in One of 2023 Continental Standard Triathlon Cup
c) 2 Male and 2 Female slot available
*If the criteria are not reached the slot will become discretionary based on TriHK
Reserve Slot:
- 1 male and 1 female slot
- Any eligible athlete not selected via the above selection methods
- The athlete with the best combination of TriHK recognized 2023-24 race result
